About the Program

The speed limit in a school zone is generally 40 kilometres per hour unless otherwise signed. The objective of the “School Road Safety Grant” is to contribute to road safety on school public roads where schools have a history of motorists disobeying speed limits around their school.

What is supplied under the Grant?

If successful, Digital Vortec will provide funding of $4,400 (Inc GST) for 1 x Radar Speed Sign, and the applicant will be required to pay the gap balance that is not covered under this grant. There are two options available, the “ROADRUNNER” and the “ROADRUNNER PLUS”. Both display the approaching vehicles speed to the driver, with the “ROADRUNNER PLUS” having the option to display either a text message or emoji happy/sad face, depending if the vehicle was under or over speed.

Do I need a permit to install the Radar Speed Sign?

No, you do not need a permit to install a Radar Speed Sign at School Pedestrian Crossings. This product is a portable Radar Speed Sign, mounted on a Tripod for temporary use during school hours, and is not mounted permanently to the roadside.

Who would operate and deploy the Radar Speed Sign?

The portable Radar Speed Sign is designed to be deployed and operated by “School Crossing Supervisors/Teachers”. It takes less than a minute to deploy, light weight design, and USB Drive for traffic data retrieval.
